Counterfeit // Posters

This is the second of three parts to project, Counterfeit.
//
Here, visual and typographic elements from US currency have been repurposed as 26 forms that directly reference the familiar structure of letters and of US currency, but are meanwhile disconcerting in an effort to communicate the instability and corruption that follows the path of money in America. The warped messages visualized in the posters challenge the viewer to make sense of the words while representing the ill truths that the media floods us with regarding our government and it’s commerce and economics specifically via film and television. The intention of the work is to highlight the corruption that follows money by resonating with viewers a memorable feeling of discomfort.
//
  Our culture equates money with happiness. We have been deceived to believe a delusion of happiness emboldened by money. The project title, Counterfeit, speaks to our authentic currency as the counterfeit.
